Services

Traditional Western medicine
We provide services such as complete physicals, vaccinations, antibody titre testing, microchipping, elective and emergency surgery, dental work, and fluid therapy. Parasite infestations are treated with the appropriate medications and antibiotics and other pharmaceuticals are dispensed as warranted. We employ the use of drugs and other diagnostic tools as needed.

Diagnostic services
Laboratory tests are invaluable in aiding diagnosis, and we employ a variety of tests including blood and urine tests, feline leukemia and FIV testing, fecal examination for parasites, heartworm tests, x-rays. electrocardiography, biopsies and cultures.

Boarding and grooming
Our hospital provides boarding for cats and small dogs on a limited basis. We provide only therapeutic grooming, such as flea baths or de-matting under sedation and/or anesthesia.

Nutritional counseling
We place a great deal of emphasis on the importance of proper nutrition in the prevention and treatment of disease. The diets and supplements we carry, prescribe, or recommend, are formulated with your companion's health and longevity in mind.

Behavioral treatment
Some animals develop undesirable behaviors such as excessive barking, soiling or spraying in the house, or aggression. Such behaviors can be reduced or eliminated through treatment. Factors such as diet, environment, exercise and training are evaluated during the initial screening and a treatment plan is then developed. Follow-up appointments monitor the animal's progress and modify the treatment plan.

Long term medication monitoring
Monitoring schedules for pets on long term medication ensure safe administration, guiding us as we evaluate your pet for any side effects, potential complications and/or interactions with other drugs. For more information please click here.

Products available at our hospital
We have sought to make only the highest quality products available to our clients and their companion animals. We carry Urban Carnivore Diets as well as natural dog and cat treats. We offer a line of dental care products, skin and coat care products and Softpaws (one alternative to declawing). We also provide nutritional supplements, vitamins, and safe and effective flea and tick control products.

Homeopathy
Homeopathy is an ancient art dating back to India's Ayurvedic and to Greece at the time of Hippocrates. An eighteenth century chemist, Samuel Hahnemann, developed the system in use today. Homeopathy is a system of medicine that stimulates the individual to recuperate and cure oneself. The remedies are derived from natural substances which contain essences that match the patterns present in the diseased state within the ailing patient. The remedy brings the patient back into balance, thus eliminating the disease. Homeopathic treatment has been very effective in the management of physical and behavioral disorders in dogs and cats.

Herbal medicine
The use of certain herbs and plants for medicinal purposes has been practiced for centuries by people (and animals) all over the world. We employ herbs for preventive and medicinal uses.

Euthanasia
We employ euthanasia as a last resort for the terminally ill and for animals injured beyond hope. The doctor will make a personal decision with the family in the best interest of the animal. If euthanasia is in the animal's best interest, then the doctor will perform this service. We do not perform convenience euthanasia. We respect the right of all creatures to die with dignity.
